At the beginning of 2013, 2-T Joiners were awarded the contract to manufacture and install the door frames, ceiling panels and wall panels at the new purpose built Reid Building at Glasgow School of Art. This was a 5 storey building, opposite the Rennie MacKintosh buiding which replaced two of the three old buildings. Two had been demolished and the one remaining was integrated into the new building. We sub-contracted to the main contractor, Sir Robert McAlpine, with whom we worked closely to ensure the project was delivered on time and to the highest standard.
All manufacturing of the joinery items took place at our Edinburgh based workshop using the CNC for the ceiling and wall panels and traditional methods for all other items. Each of the birch plywood panels were programmed and drilled with 5300 holes, then treated with a fire coat finish and transported to site to be carefully installed by our highly skilled joiners. 2-T Joiners were on site 7 days a week to ensure work was completed and deadlines were met.
Resulting from the success of this project 2-T Joiners were able to tender for another large project in Glasgow, One West Regent Street. This contract began in September 2014 and was recently completed in May 2015, a project page will be appearing very soon.
